Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Defense Taalaibek Omuraliyev met on Thursday with his Russian counterpart Sergey Shoygu.

The press service of the Kyrgyz Defense Ministry reported that the meeting took place in Moscow as part of a foreign visit of Kyrgyz President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov to Russia.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects for further development of the Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation in the military and military-technical fields, and discussed cooperation issues in defense and maintaining stability in the Central Asian region.

Following the meeting, the defense minister of the two countries signed a Protocol on Cooperation on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in Kyrgyzstan and a Program for the development of a strategic partnership in the military sphere for a 5-year period.
