Russia and Kazakhstan have agreed to expedite work on a project to produce a Russian vaccine against coronavirus in Kazakhstan. An agreement was reached during a meeting between Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Russian Presidential Administration deputy head Dmitry Kozak, TASS reported citing a diplomatic source on December 3.

According to him, “during Kozak’s visit to Kazakhstan, the topic of deployment in the republic of the production of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine was discussed in a substantive manner. The parties agreed to accelerate the implementation of this large-scale joint project,” the source said.

In addition, he said that Tokayev and Kozak discussed topical issues of further development of integration processes and allied ties in the post-Soviet space.

On December 2, Tokayev said at a session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization that a plant for the production of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus will be built in the republic in the near future.
