THE YOUNG ATATÜRK: FROM OTTOMAN SOLDIER TO STATESMAN OF TURKEY - PROF. DR. GEORGE W. GAWRYCH
The Center for Eurasian Studies (AVİM), on 9 June 2016, will host the author of the book The Young Atatürk: From Ottoman Soldier to Statesman of Turkey, Prof. Dr. George W. Gawrych.
Prof. George W. Gawrych argues that in order to thoroughly understand Atatürk, one must examine his years as a military officer. Therefore, in his book, Prof. Gawrych, differently from other biographies of Atatürk, studies the military career of Atatürk.
In the book in which he analyses factors that shaped Atatürk’s mind set, Prof. Gawrych provides, via archival documents, provides Atatürk’s notes, commands and correspondences. Prof. also reveals Ataturk’s thought system when dealing with problems he faced during his military career.
