On 17 May 2018, Center for Eurasian Studies (AVİM) and Hacettepe University Strategic Research Center (HÜSAM) together organized a conference titled “An Evaluation of the Iran Nuclear Deal Under the Trump Administration and Prospects,” at which the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) that was signed by P5+1 countries and Iran, President Trump’s declaration of the US withdrawal from the deal, and the possible consequences of this decision were evaluated.

After the welcoming speech, the discussant of the conference AVİM Senior Analyst Dr. Turgut Kerem Tuncel presented a brief summary of the political concerns and questions related to the US’ withdrawal from JCPOA. The speaker of the conference, Assist. Prof. Şebnem Udum, the Head of HÜSAM and a member of the Hacettepe University International Relations Department, delivered a comprehensive presentation evaluating the technical, psychological and political aspects of the JCPOA, the discursive tools that President Trump uses to justify his decision to withdraw from this deal, and the probable repercussions of this decision on the global politics.

The conference was concluded by the Q&A session.
