The second lecture of 2021 Ömer Engin Lütem Lectures was held online on 18 February 2021. The main speaker of the lecture titled “The Armenians’ Approach to the Declaration of the Second Constitutional Era (1908) (Ermenilerin İkinci Meşrutiyet’in İlanına Yaklaşımı (1908)” was Research Assistant Celaleddin Erdoğan.

In his presentation, Research Assistant Celaleddin Erdoğan talked about the expectation and attitudes of the Armenians regarding the declaration of the Second Constitutional Era. In this context, the views of the Ottoman Armenian communities in and abroad on the declaration of the Second Constitutional Era were conveyed, and the interests of mostly the Armenian communities abroad were emphasized. In this presentation prepared by using the sources belonging to the Directorate of State Archives of the Presidency of Turkey's Ottoman Archive as well as the articles and books related to the topic, Research Assistant Erdoğan delved into the views and expectations of the Armenians who adopted a certain attitude in order to maintain their social and political positions with the proclamation of the Second Constitutional Era.
