AVRASYA DÜNYASI/EURASIAN WORLD JOURNAL - 12TH ISSUE - CALL FOR PAPERS

The Russia-Ukraine war, tensions between the US and China, developments in the Indo-Pacific, competition over the Artic region, energy and food crises, global economic woes, pursuit for new routes for global trade, new realignments in international politics are some of the crucial issues that we have been witnessing in recent times. The Eurasian region lays at the very center of these critical questions. The 12th issue of Avrasya Dünyası/Eurasian World will aim to focus on these and other questions and their causes and consequences in the Eurasian region.

The 72nd issue of the Ermeni Araştırmaları journal contains one editorial, three research articles, and a book review. 

A NEW AVİM PUBLICATION: “IMPERIALISM AND GENOCIDE IN AFRICA” BY RET. AMBASSADOR NUMAN HAZAR

The long essay of the Retired Ambassador Numan Hazar titled “Imperialism and Genocide in Africa” discusses the colonial atrocities in Africa perpetrated by the European countries who have not yet come to terms with their imperial barbaric acts and their consequences in a booklet format with translations into Turkish, English, French, and German. 

ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION AT AVİM WITH AMBASSADOR TERHI HAKALA, THE EU SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE FOR CENTRAL ASIA

The roundtable discussion served to a more comprehensive and in-depth exchange of EU and Turkish views on matters centered around Central Asia. The meeting availed better understanding of the concerns, interpretations, policies and strategies of the EU and Türkiye vis-à-vis Central Asia.

NEW PUBLICATION: PROCEEDINGS OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “EU-TÜRKİYE COOPERATION IN CENTRAL ASIA: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR CLOSER COOPERATION IN THE REGION”

This report contains the summary of the opening remarks, keynote speeches, and the presentations delivered during the conference, as well as an overview of the commonly underlined points regarding EU-Türkiye Cooperation in Central Asia.

ATAA: URGE CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR NEWSOM TO VETO AB 1801

Dear Turkish American Community and Friends of Turkey: On August 24, California Senate passed ASSEMBLY BILL No. 1801 (AB 1801), introduced by California Assembly member Adrin Nazarian. This bill would add April 24, known as “Genocide Remembrance Day,” to the list of state holidays and would authorize community colleges and public schools to close on April 24, known as “Genocide Remembrance Day,” as specified. Under California law, Governor Newsom has the ability to veto AB 1801.

In the name of supporting the struggle against hate crimes and discrimination targetting Turkish people abroad, the Presidency For Turks Abroad And Related Communities (YTB) created a website titled "Fight Against Hate Crimes and Anti-Discrimination Portal".

The book titled “Classifying Genocide in International Law: The Substantiality Requirement” by AVİM Scholar in Residence and Teaching Assistant Dr. Onur Uraz (Department of International Law, Faculty of Law at Hacettepe University) has been published by Routledge.
