The role of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed as a result of the war launched by the United States and Israel on Saturday, in strengthening relations between Armenia and Iran was highlighted in a condolence message sent by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran on Monday.

In his message, sent two days after the U.S. and Israeli attacks began on Iran, Pashinyan said that Armenia is “deeply concerned” about the ongoing developments surrounding Iran and expressed condolences over the loss of lives.

“Please accept my condolences on the casualties recorded among the leadership and citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Pashinyan said in his message to Pezeshkian.
