AZERBAIJAN IS CONCERNED THAT ASALA WILL RESUME ITS OPERATIONS

According to Personanews' report, it is stated in the Yerkramas newspaper published by the Armenian community in the Russian Federation that the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia (ASALA) is threatening the Russian Federation.

It is reported in the news article that the terrorist organization ASALA has decided to resume its operations in the aftermath of Armenia's defeat in the Second Karabakh War. The Azerbaijani media has stated that the “the tactical pause” announced in 1991 by ASALA, which had carried out a series of terrorist attacks to kill civilians, has come to an end and that ASALA will continue its activities.

It is also stated that ASALA accuses the politicians in Armenia of failing to serve Armenian interests and ignoring these interests. The infamous motto of Garegin Nzhdeh, "We must not spend a single day without fighting with the Turks", was published in the Yerkramas newspaper, causing dissatisfaction. It is reminded that in the article that Nzhdeh is seen as a fascist in Azerbaijan.

Russian historian and Caucasus expert Oleg Kuznetsov has noted that ASALA’s latest terrorist attack was in 1991. Kuznetsov has also added that the activities of the Yerkramas newspaper have been banned by a Russian court since 2016 and that the periodical's name has been removed from the Russian state register. Kuznetsov  has also underlined that the Krasnodar address listed for the newspaper does not actually exist. Kuznetsov has stated: “The people representing the head of the magazine and their assistants were last identified in Russia in 2016. Since then, the newspaper’s website has been operating from France.” Kuznetsov is known for his anti-Armenia stance.
