The Greek Navy has entered a new era with the delivery of its first French-built FDI frigate, the F-601 Kimon, Defense Minister Nikos Dendias has said.

“Today is not just the delivery of an exceptional ship, it is a new day in a new era,” the minister said, during a naming and Greek flag-raising ceremony at the Naval Group shipyards in Lorient, France.

“The inclusion of the Kimon and three additional FDI frigates would create the strongest navy Hellenism has ever had. Greece is strengthening itself not in order to threaten but to protect, to guarantee and to deter, placing right before might,” he added.
