Iraq's Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed on Sunday the Iraqi government’s commitment to resolving the issue of missing Kuwaitis, stressing that Iraq views the matter as a humanitarian issue.

The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received on Sunday the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, Mari Yamashita, and her accompanying delegation.”

The statement added that “at the beginning of the meeting, Yamashita congratulated the Prime Minister on gaining the confidence of the Council of Representatives and forming the new government.”
