Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani affirmed on Tuesday that government planning is moving toward expanding the refining capacity of Iraq’s oil refineries, stressing the need to achieve concrete results from the discussions between the Ministry of Oil and the American company Chevron.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Media Office and obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Sudani received a delegation from Chevron Corporation headed by the company’s Vice President, Joe Koch, in the presence of the Minister of Oil and a number of advisers and officials in the oil sector.

The statement added that the meeting included continued discussions on the investment of the Nasiriyah oil field, as well as potential cooperation regarding the West Qurna 2 field.
