UZBEKISTAN LEADS AS THE TOP SOURCE OF LABOR MIGRANTS IN RUSSIA, FOLLOWED BY TAJIKISTAN

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, there are currently 1.8 million Uzbek labor migrants in Russia. In comparison, 1.2 million Tajik citizens are working in the country. Workers from these two countries make up nearly half of all migrants in Russia.

In an interview with Kommersant, Colonel General Alexander Gorovoy, First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, discussed the number of migrants in the country. According to the ministry, more than 6.1 million foreigners are currently in Russia, with most of them coming from Central Asia and CIS countries. Based on data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the publication revealed statistics on labor migrants who entered, stayed, and left Russia between January and August 2024. The statistics show that Uzbekistan leads in all categories.

In the first eight months of this year, more than 1.88 million citizens of Uzbekistan traveled to Russia. At present, over 1.792 million of them are working in the RF.
