We are pleased to invite you to an online lecture titled “The Ottoman-Armenian Relocations in Context” that will be held on 4 March 2021 between 17:00-19:00 UTC/GMT +3 hours (Ankara time). In this lecture that is being organized in online format within the scope of Ömer Engin Lütem Lectures, Dr. Edward J. Erickson will discuss his recently published book “A Global History of Relocation in Counterinsurgency Warfare.” A contributor to the book, Dr. Maxime Gauin will make the introductory remarks.

The relocation and resettlement of Ottoman-Armenians in 1915 was not the first such removal of a population thought to be a threat to national security. In fact, population removal was a common and accepted strategy used by the Americans, the British, and the Spanish in counterinsurgency warfare during the 19th and 20th centuries. In his presentation, Dr. Edward J. Erickson will compare and contrast the major campaigns of population relocation used by the Great Powers to provide context for the Ottoman experience.

We will be looking forward to your participation in this lecture to be held on Thursday, 4 March 2021, between 17:00-19:00 UTC/GMT +3 hours on the Zoom platform.

Kindly note that pre-registration is mandatory and note that participation in the event is limited to the first 100 registrants.
