On February 5, 2019, a round table meeting was held at AVİM, in which a delegation from the Center for International Public Policy Studies, Tokyo, comprised of President Naoki Tanaka, Deputy Secretary General Masahide Owada, Senior Fellow Tsuyoshi Okamoto, Associate Fellow Shohei Yamazaki together with First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Ankara Akifumi Fukuoka and AVİM Director Alev Kılıç, AVİM Advisor Yiğit Alpogan and AVİM analysts participated.

At the meeting, the topics of Balkan countries' perspectives for joining the EU, the status of migrants in Turkey, security, stability and cooperation in the Black Sea region, Turkish-Russian relations, Turkish-Chinese relations and the role of nuclear energy and manufacturing industry in Turkey’s economic development were discussed.

A fruitful and constructive exchange of views beneficial for both institutions took place during the meeting. Both sides agreed to continue their collaboration in their future meetings.
