On 28-29 June 2017, Center for Eurasian Studies (AVİM) Director Ambassador (R) Alev Kılıç, together with Ambassador (R) Çınar Aldemir, former Executive Director of CICA and currently on the board of AVİM, attended the Second Annual Conference of Non-governmental Forum of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) held in Beijing, China.

The Conference, which aimed to bring together representatives from well-known think tanks, social groups and media from CICA member states, observer states as well as some countries outside the continent, began with a welcome message of President of the People’s Republic of China H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping, followed by opening speeches by prominent speakers, including  Mr. Gong Jianwei, Executive Director of the Secretariat of CICA, and Mr. Rashid Alimov, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The Conference then continued with a session titled “Build Regional Security Architecture with Asian Features / Jointly Build the Belt and Road: Promote Reaching Common Views”.

Finally, the first day of the conference ended with Eight Parallel Roundtable Panels with a wide variety of topics, including the panel titled “Asian Security Situation: Assessment and Prospect” which was organized by the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies.

On the second day of the Conference, participants made a visit to the Huawei Beijing Executive Briefing Center (EBC).
