The establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan is a turning point, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said on Monday. 

"I can say without hesitation that what happened on August 8 was a turning point, without in any way underestimating the work and negotiations carried out in this direction beforehand. All of that led to August 8, and what happened that day in Washington was a turning point and a cornerstone for the subsequent work," he said at a parliamentary committee hearing on the 2026 budget bill.

Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a U.S.-brokered declaration and initialed the peace agreement on August 8.
