Georgia considers Germany an important partner and is seeking to normalise bilateral relations following a period of strained ties, Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili has said.

Speaking ahead of Georgian Ambassador Alexander Kartozia's presentation of credentials to German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on 23 July, Botchorishvili expressed hope that the appointment of ambassadors in both capitals would help put relations back on a positive track, News.Az reports, citing Georgia Online.

"It is certainly a positive development that our ambassador will have the opportunity to present his credentials to the President of Germany and officially begin his duties," Botchorishvili said.
