Iran and Azerbaijan have moved to accelerate joint infrastructure and transit projects, with senior officials pledging to fast-track railway links and border developments that could reshape regional trade routes.

In a phone call on Sunday, Iran's Transport Minister Farzaneh Sadegh and Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev reviewed progress on bilateral economic cooperation, with particular attention to energy, transport, and customs infrastructure. Both sides confirmed that specialized working groups on gas, electricity, and logistics have been established, and Sadegh called for quicker formation of joint committees to implement agreed action points.

The call comes amid ongoing repairs to transport networks damaged during recent border tensions. Sadegh acknowledged the disruptions but insisted that reconstruction efforts are proceeding on schedule, with priority given to key overland and rail routes.
