Iraq's government spokesperson, Bassim Al-Awadi, affirmed that Iraq will not tolerate any force attempting to advance towards its borders. He further noted that Iraq will reciprocate any positive steps from Syria with even greater goodwill.

In an appearance on The Duty of Honesty program broadcast on Al-Iraqiya News and followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Awadi stated, "The recent developments in Syria came as a surprise," emphasizing that "Iraq does not support military interventions but is prepared to contribute to any political resolution."

He added, "We have faced no pressure to intervene in the events unfolding in Syria," reiterating that "the Iraqi government’s stance has been clear in refraining from military involvement in Syria."
