Iraq's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) welcomed on Tuesday Switzerland's decision to lift the travel ban imposed on several Iraqi cities.

"MOFA welcomes the decision of the Swiss government to lift the travel ban imposed on several Iraqi cities, which, as a first step, includes Baghdad, Basra, Najaf, Babylon, and Karbala, in addition to the Kurdistan Region. This is a result of the continuous diplomatic efforts exerted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, in ongoing coordination with the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant authorities," in a statement issued by the Ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

The Ministry affirmed that "this decision reflects the growing international confidence in the security situation and stability witnessed in Iraqi cities, and is a positive step that contributes to strengthening bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the Swiss Confederation, and expanding the horizons of cooperation in various fields."
