Iraq's Speaker of Parliament, Haibet Al-Halbousi, affirmed on Monday that the current stage places a clear duty on us to uphold our legislative role.

"I extend my thanks and appreciation to the heads of political parties, the heads of parliamentary blocs, and the members of Parliament for their confidence in electing me Speaker of Parliament for the sixth session. I consider this confidence a constitutional mandate and a huge national responsibility," Al-Halbousi said in a post on X, followed by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

Al-Halbousi added, "This stage places a clear duty on all of us, as representatives of the people, to uphold our legislative and oversight role in a way that preserves the constitution, strengthens stability, and prioritizes the interests of Iraq above all else."
