Official Moscow on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s call for an end to Russian management of Armenia’s railway network was “bizarre” and violated bilateral agreements, which are in effect until 2038.

The Russian state-owned South Caucasus Railways, which runs the Armenian railway network, signed a 30-year management agreement with Yerevan in 2008.

Pashinyan voiced concerns about the railway agreement a day after meeting with Vice-President JD Vance in Yerevan. He claimed in televised remarks that the agreement discourages Turkey and Azerbaijan from using a much larger section of Armenian territory for transit.
