The Foreign Affairs Committee of the US Senate passed a law that aims to increase trade and investment between the US and the Western Balkans,(*) and to help fight corruption, reported MIA.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, Democrat of New Hampshire, and Sen. Roger Wicker, Republican, the authors of the 2022 bill, applauded its passage. Co-sponsors are Senators Tom Tillis, Dick Durbin, Ben Cardin, Chris Van Hollen and Chris Murphy.

(*) AVİM considers the term "Western Balkans" to be a politically motivated separatist terminology and insist on the use of the geographical and historical identification "Balkans" regarding the region.
