The United States  (USA)  will impose sanctions on the Serbian Petroleum Industry (NIS), a large part of whose management is in the hands of  the Russian energy company Gazprom Neft  . According to the news of Anadolu Agency (AA) dated January 5, 2025, the decision was announced by Serbian President  Aleksandar Vucic , speaking to Serbian Radio and Television (RTS)  . 

Vucic, who made a statement on the issue that has been on Serbia's agenda for a long time, claimed that the sanctions in question have nothing to do with Russia's all-out invasion attempt and attacks against Ukraine since February 24, 2022, or the current financial situation. 

Serbian leader Vucic claimed that the US wanted to bring Serbia into its fold.
