The first lecture of 2021 Ömer Engin Lütem Conferences was held online on 28 January 2021. The main speaker of the lecture titled “The Armenian Question in Turkey (Türkiye’nin Ermeni Meselesi)” was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mithat Kadri Vural.

In his presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vural stated that he decided to write his doctoral dissertation titled “The Armenian Question in the Turkish Republican Period (Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nde Türk Kamuoyunda Ermeni Sorunu)” and started to research the historical background of the Turkish and Armenian theses regarding the 1915 events. In his presentation, he presented a general perspective on the debates in the press and newspapers regarding the 1915 events from 1923 to 2005 and drew attention to the reflections of these debates in the national and international arena. He referred to the historical events and the public names of that period and what all these developments in the past meant to Turkey.
