Pristina is urging the European Union to put pressure on Belgrade to allow cross-border electricity transmission from Serbia to Kosovo, so cheaper imports can ease its energy crisis.

Amid an ongoing energy crisis and mounting financial costs, Kosovo has renewed its call on the European Union and the Energy Community for South East Europe to pressure Serbia to make cross-border transmission capacity available, after Belgrade again failed to meet its commitment to do so.

The Energy Community, a Vienna-based international organisation that oversees compliance and dispute resolution in the energy sector across the Western Balkans and the Black Sea region, set a July 1 deadline for Serbia to provide Kosovo with cross-border transmission capacities.
