The fourth round of political consultations between the Republic of Iraq and the Republic of Turkmenistan was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Baghdad on Monday, October 20, 2025.

During the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed in the field of energy and gas imports. The Iraqi side was headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr al-Ulum, while the Turkmen side was headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Qurbanov, according to a statement from the Ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

The meeting discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation between the two countries and ways to enhance it in various fields, particularly in the economic, trade, and investment sectors, within the framework of the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two sides, as the two sides affirmed their shared commitment to developing these partnerships to achieve the mutual interests of the two friendly peoples.
