Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan have introduced an electronic system for exchanging advance information on goods and vehicles transported between the two countries, aiming to speed up customs clearance and make cross-border trade more predictable.

The mechanism has been operational since August 2026 through the information systems of Turkmenistan’s State Customs Service and Kazakhstan’s State Revenue Committee, according to Turkmenistan’s customs authorities.

Under the new system, customs authorities receive information about shipments and vehicles before they arrive at the border. This allows officials to analyze the data in advance, conduct preliminary risk assessment and prepare the necessary customs procedures before cargo reaches the crossing point.
