TASC MOURNS THE LOSS OF AMBASSADOR ALAN WOOD LUKENS, FORMER PRESIDENT OF AMERICAN FRIENDS OF TURKEY, VICE CONSUL TO ISTANBUL, WORLD WAR II VETERAN The Turkish American National Steering Committee (TASC) expresses its deepest condolences for the loss of Ambassador Alan Wood Lukens, who passed away on January 5, 2019. He was the former President of American Friends of Turkey (AFOT), based in Washington DC.

CALL FOR PAPERS: ULUSLARARASI SUÇLAR VE TARİH / INTERNATIONAL CRIMES AND HISTORY- 20th ISSUE The UST / ICH calls for papers that focus on past and present-day ethnic, religious and national conflicts in the Balkans, the Caucasus, the Eurasia region, and the Middle East from sociological, political, historical and legal perspectives, and reviews of recently published books on these subjects for its 20th issue that will be published in December 2019. Given that the year 2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the emigration of the Turks in Bulgaria in 1989, the UST / ICH will give priority to the studies that focus on the issues related to voluntary and forced population movements in the Balkans throughout the history.
Deadline for manuscript submissions: 15 September 2019.

THE HOLODOMOR: THE MAN-MADE FAMINE IN UKRAINE At the panel titled “The Holodomor: The Man-Made Famine in Ukraine (1932-1933)”, which is jointly organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in Turkey and Center for Eurasian Studies (AVİM) at the National Library of Turkey on 4 December 2018 between 14:00-17:00, Turkish and Ukrainian panelists will address the historical, sociological, political and legal aspects of the Holodomor.
